The City of Longmont, located in Boulder and Weld counties, is located 15 miles northeast of Boulder and roughly 35 miles northwest of Denver. Its name is derived from the city's most striking geographic landmark, Longs Peak, a 14,259-foot peak that is clearly visible from anywhere in the Longmont area. This is the same mountain peak depicted on the design of the Colorado state quarter. With a revitalized downtown district and an abundance of public parks and trails, Longmont boasts an eclectic fare for those with a taste for the arts and outdoor recreation. Longmont was declared an "All-American City" by the National Civic League in June 2006 and was also ranked No. 61 on the 2006 list of the top 100 places to live in the United States by Money Magazine.
